World Ophthalmology Congress® (WOC) 2014 operated by Congress Corporation received the “JNTO Award for Contribution to Invitation and Hosting of International Conferences!”

The 34th World Ophthalmology Congress® (WOC) 2014, operated by Congress Corporation, received the Japan National Tourism Organization’s (JNTO) “Award for Contribution to Invitation and Hosting of International Conferences.” JNTO presents this prize in recognition of efforts related to international conferences convened in Japan within the past 1 year, including achievements in winning international conferences for Japan, international conference implementation as well as international conferences that contribute to local communities.

WOC2014 was held from April 2 to 6, 2014 and welcomed some 20,000 participants from 135 countries and regions. This was the largest international medical conference ever hosted in Japan.

The congress was evaluated for the fact that it succeeded in widely promoting Japan to the world as a superb destination for international conferences due to its operational capability and O-MO-TE-NA-SHI hospitality. Also highly evaluated was the congress’ contribution to the local community through the open public forums held on issues such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
At the award ceremony on December 9, 2015 held on-site at the 25th International Meetings Expo (IME 2015), Professor Tetsuro Oshika, who served as President of WOC2014, gave the acceptance speech representing the recipients.

All of us at Congress Corporation offer our heartfelt congratulations to the organizers. It was a great honor for us to be appointed as the official PCO and operate the congress, and this is indeed happy news for our company as well.
