On April 1, 2015, two convention industry organizations, Convention Planners Association of Japan (CPA) and Japan Association of Professional Congress Organizers (JAPCO) merged and established a new association, Japan Convention Management Association (JCMA) .(Senior Advisor and Chairperson: Ryuji Funayama; Representative Directors: Hirotake Chikanami and Noriko Takeuchi.)

Through this consolidation of the top two industry organizations, now all of the various players in the convention industry in Japan are gathered together in one entity, facilitating formulation of consensual strategies to further develop & strengthen our industry in Japan. The industry surely will as a consequence gain increased recognition.

Hereafter, JCMA will endeavor to enhance the expertise of each member company, and focus on identifying and fostering next-generation convention human assets, in order to contribute to fortifying Japan’s international competitiveness in the convention/event domain.
