Congress Corporation appointed as consultant for preparations looking toward the 2012 Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Tokyo.

Congress Corporation was appointed by the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan to provide consulting services in preparation for the esteemed 67th Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group, scheduled for October, 2012.
The Annual Meetings are one of the world’s largest and most prestigious conferences, attended by Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from all of the IMF and World Bank Group countries (currently 187). This will be one of the most important international meetings in Tokyo next year, attracting over 10,000 participants and reaching upwards of 20,000 people including all related entities.

The last time the Annual Meetings were held in Japan was in 1964, when former Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka was Minister of Finance. The 1964 Meetings succeeded in publicizing Japan’s strengths in its period of rapid economic growth, according to the official records as well as the impressions of people who were involved at that time.

Times may have changed, but nevertheless, the Annual Meetings will be an especially important occasion for Japan.
Congress Corporation, that has honed its expertise through many ministerial-level meetings such as the Annual Meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors and the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit 2008, is proud to be of assistance in the preparatory work. Our entire company will devote our best efforts to assisting the Government toward the successful convening of the 2012 Annual Meetings.
