The 3rd General Meeting of the Kenjin-Tatsujin International Advisory Council of Ashinaga was held in Kyoto!

Kyoto was the venue for the 3rd General Meeting of the Kenjin-Tatsujin International Advisory Council of Ashinaga, a Japanese non-profit organization supporting orphaned children in Japan and abroad, held from March 1 to 3, 2018. The Council discussed the major project Ashinaga is currently progressing, “The Ashinaga Africa Initiative,” which aims to provide an opportunity for 1 scholarship student from each of the 49 Sub-Saharan countries each year to receive higher education abroad.

The Advisory Council announced at the press conference on the second day of the meeting that an educational facility “Kokorozashi-juku” will be established in the City of Kyoto to support students from Africa. Mr. Daisaku Kadokawa, Mayor of the City of Kyoto and Prof. Juichi Yamagiwa, President of Kyoto University, who are also Council members, attended the press conference.

Congress Corporation once again provided services to support this meeting, following our past experiences supporting the 1st General Meeting of the Kenjin-Tatsujin International Advisory Council, convened in 2015 in Washington D.C., as well as the second in Tokyo in 2017.
