Number of Conferences Reaches 1,702, Up 1.2 Times Year-on-Year; Recovery in International Attendance Leads the Way
Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has released its 2024 International Convention Statistics.
Key highlights are as follows:
In 2024, both the number of international conventions held in Japan and the total number of participants showed steady growth compared to the previous year.
By scale, medium- and large-scale international conventions accounted for just under 20% of the total number of events, yet represented approximately 70% of all international participants.
By sector, international conventions in the fields of Science, Technology and Nature and Medicine accounted for the majority of both the total number of events and participants. In terms of composition, these sectors show a relatively faster recovery compared with pre-2019 levels.
