Hamagin Space Science Center donates face guards produced with its 3D printers to medical institutions

Congrès Inc. is appointed as the administration and operations manager of Hamagin Space Science Center (Isogo-ku, Yokohama). The 3D printers utilized in educational workshops organized by the Center were put to good use to produce face guards, which have been donated to medical institutions and social welfare facilities in the community.

Due to the impact of the expanding COVID-19 outbreak, it continues to be very difficult to procure medical supplies. We had heard that some medical institutions were even creating their own face guards to use when treating patients. Considering these severe circumstances, the staff had wanted to find some way for the Space Science Center, as part of the community, to be of service and based on volunteer staff’s proposal, it was decided to produce these face guards.

The face guards were made with the 3D printers that are normally used in various workshops held at the Center. The staff are accustomed to using these 3D printers and produced 100 face guards in 3 days. After consulting with the City of Yokohama, the face guards were donated to medical institutions and social welfare centers in the city. This is a unique endeavor true to the spirit of a Space Science Museum.
The institutions and facilities were overjoyed to receive the face guards.

In the midst of this continuing emergency, everyone at Hamagin Space Science Center, as well as all of us at Congrès Inc., are happy that we could be of some small service to those who are working on the frontlines battling COVID-19.
