2012 Tokyo Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group end successfully. Congress Corporation provides a wide range of support to ensure smooth operation

The 2012 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group were held in the heart of Tokyo from October 9 to 14. Important meetings and press conferences were scheduled on each day of the event, and for six days Tokyo attracted international attention as the focal point of the global economy.

Congress Corporation was responsible for a wide range of organizational tasks throughout the meetings, including preparation of a preliminary grand design, conference room and office set-up, security and transport arrangements, IT equipment, the student volunteer office, and the Sendai Dialogue on disaster risk management and development. While Congress Corporation has been involved in running numerous international conferences, these Annual Meetings were an unprecedented challenge in terms of scale, content and lead time. Coordinating well over 200 meetings of all sizes required maximum effort from the entire company.

After the event ended, the international headquarters staff based in Washington. D.C. were kind enough to say they wished they could take the Japan team home with them, and everyone at Congress Corporation was left with a tremendous sense of achievement. Encouraged by the honor of being involved in this work, we have renewed our dedication to promoting conventions in Japan.
